PENGARUH TEMPERATUR TERHADAP KINETIKA REAKSI METANOLISIS MINYAK JELANTAH MENJADI BIODIESEL (DITINJAU SEBAGAI REAKSI HOMOGEN)

Abstract

The necessity of petroleum is getting increase day to day, that is caused scarcely fuel oil. In order to anticipate this problem, it is necessary to find a fuel oil alternative which is obtained from plants oil, known as biodiesel. In this research biodiesel was made from methanol and waste oil by methanolysis process which was done in a three neck round bottom flask in a batch condition. It was made by 2 : 1 stoichiometrically feed ratio between methanol, waste oil, and KOH catalyst 2.5 % of oil weight and a 400 rpm rate of stirring. The temperature was done between 30-70 oC with a 10 oC interval. Biodiesel was analysed by glycerol analysis using acetin methode. The higher temperature, the higher biodiesel concentration result at the same time. The reaction rate constant equation approached by arrhenius equation, and the equation was k = 714.726 e-3243.5/T.
