Abstract

The measurement of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and the use of model are exercised to probe the undergoing corrosion process on concrete steel rebar under aggressive ·envitfJnment. The ordinary Randles model and original Matsuoka model turn out inadequate in fitting the measured EIS data. The uses of parallel model plus Warburg diffusion fit the data quite well and modifying the Matsuoka model increase the fitting accuracy even more. It can be seen that the corrosion process takes place in cyclical steps. Starting with passive stage, high rates corrosion and followed by passive layer formation. The passive layer then breakdown and the corrosion reaction starting again.
