PENGARUH SUHU TERHADAP EKSTRAKSI MINYAK TEMULAWAK BERBENTUK SLAB MENGGUNAKAN PELARUT ETANOL

Abstract

Extraction of oil from slab curcuma using etanol as a solvent in bacth extractor has been performed. The objectives of this research are to evaluate parameter that came up in a mathematical model. The parameters that would be evaluated were interface mass coefficient (kc), effective diffusivity (De) oil in curcuma, and equilibrium constant (HJ. This experiment also investigates the effects of extraction temperature on kc, De, and H. In this research, extraction was carried out in a three necks glass as an extractor equipped with a thermometer, mercury mixer, heater and, water cooler. Sample withdrawn at every 5 minutes interval. The consentration of oil in the samples were measured with gravimetry method. The evaluation of experimental data shows that the mathematical model proposed can describe the curcuma oil extraction and the three parameter, kca, De, and H increase with the increase of temperature. Relation between De and temperature can be expressed in the following equation : De=0.0000756e-9·1941I The equation is formulated in the range of temperatures from 35'C to 65'C, and its average error is 0.085%..
