Abstract

Sorption process is have been known for a long time and utilised for removal  metal ion from solution. Natural zeolite can be used as adsorbent for heavy metal ion in waste water. The using of activated natural zeolite in the sorption process needs some information of the sorption characteristic. The objective of this research was to study the sorption characteristic in the equilibrium process. The batch equilibrium test was conducted at constant temperature by contacting a certain amount of zeolite-Na with the heavy metal salt  solution in an elenmeyer flask. A series of erlenmeyer flasks containing different salt solution concentration placed in a shaker bath. Tha effect of temperature was studied at 27, 35, and 50 oC. The results show that sorption of Pb ions can be viewed as adsorption process either ion exchange process. At higher temperatur, more Pb ions can be adsorp by zeolite-Na.
