GEL FORMULTION OF ETHANOL EXTRACT in Mimosa pudica Linn. LEAVES AS ANTIINFLAMMATORY

Abstract

Abstract: A research was conducted on gel formulation in Mimosa pudica Linn. leaves
extract as an anti-inflammatory. Mimosa pudica Linn. plant has the potential for antiinflammatory
treatment because of the flavonoid content. The leaves extract was obtained
from the maceration process using 96% ethanol. Formulation of gel in extract Mimosa
pudica Linn. leaf was used base of Na CMC gel and tragakan. Gel Mimosa pudica Linn.
with Na CMC gel base used in anti-inflammatory research based on the evaluation of the
preparation. Positive control used by Voltaren, it was found out that the embarrassed
daughter leaves extract gel can reduce inflammation in rabbits. The rabbit swelling used
the Mimosa pudica Linn. extract gel was initially 2 cm and after 300 minutes to 0,5 cm.
The swelling of a rabbit using Voltaren was initially 2 cm and after 300 minutes to 0,2
cm. This research can be concluded that the formulation of gel ethanol extract of Mimosa
pudica Linn is effective as anti-inflammatory.
