ANALISIS FAKTOR – FAKTOR YANG MEMENGARUHI KEUNTUNGAN USAHATANI SEMANGKA (CITRULLUS VULGARIS) DI KOTA BATAM

Abstract

Indonesia has considerable potential in the agricultural sector,
especially the horticulture sub-sector. This study aims to analyze the
factors that influence the profits of watermelon farming in Batam City.
The basic method of this research is descriptive with a quantitative
approach. The research location is Galang District, Batam City which
was selected purposively. Analysis of the data used are (1) the cost of
farming; (2) Admission; (3) Profit analysis; (4) Analysis of the influence
of factors to determine the factors that influence the profits of watermelon
farming in Batam City; (5) Classical assumption test; (6) Model Testing.
The results of calculations and analysis of research data show that the
average cost of cultivating watermelon farming is IDR
87.929.887.3/season/Ha, the average revenue is
IDR 191.729.323.3/season/Ha and the average profit value is IDR
103,725.288.7/season/Ha. The results of data analysis showed that 65.9%
of watermelon farming profits could be explained by independent
variables and the remaining 34.1% was explained by other variables not
observed in this study. The F-test showed that the observed independent
variables, namely farmer age, land area, education level, seed cost and
fertilizer cost together had a significant effect on watermelon farming
profits. The t- test showed that land area, seed costs and fertilizer costs
had a significant effect, while the age of farmers and individual
education levels did not significantly affect the profits of watermelon
farming in Batam City.
