PENGEMBANGAN PAKET PEMBELAJARAN IPA BIOLOGI KELAS VIII SMPLB-B DENGAN MODEL DICK CAREY & CAREY

Abstract


Developing materials is an integral part of what the technology of learning should do. This
research is carried out to develop Biology textbook for the eighth grade students of SMPLB-B. The
aims of it are: 1) to develop Biology textbook which is appropriate for the eighth grade students of
SMPLB-B using short, simple sentences and including with visual picture, teachers’ guidance and
students’ guidance; 2) to ease the students having a deaf condition to learn Biology well so that they
can achieve their basic competence concerned with their need.
This study applies a model of Dick Carey & Carey. It is implemented into nine stages, i.e. 1)
identifying need to know purpose of the study; 2) analyzing instruction; 3) identifying need and
context; 4) determining performance aim; 5) developing assessment instrument; 6) developing
strategic instructional; 7) developing and selecting instructional materials; 8) applying formative
evaluation; 9) revising learning process.
This research runs into five stages, i.e. 1) determining subject that is being developed; 2)
identifying curriculula of the subject; 3) process of developing the Biology textbook using nine stages
of the model of Dick Carey & Carey; 4) developing the textbook, teachers’ guidance and students’
guidance; 5) trying out the textbook including experts’ suggestions concerning with the content, the
design, and the media of the textbook, individual try out and practical try out. The result of the study
shows that all qualifications of the textbook have met the experts’ expectation. In short, the textbook is
appropriate for the eighth grade students of SMPLB-B.
