The results of the analysis showed that the prevalence of psychosomatic problems in the elderly with chronic diseases ranged from 30% to 70%, with anxiety disorders (45%) and depression (50%) as the main problems. The main risk factors include duration of chronic illness, level of pain, social isolation and limitation of daily activities. Psychosomatic management strategies involving bio-psychosocial approaches have been shownto be effective in reducing symptoms. The conclusions of this review point to the high prevalence of psychosomatic problems in the elderly with chronic diseases, highlighting the importance of an interdisciplinary approach for early diagnosis and effective intervention.
