Abstract

Introduction: Weil's disease presents a significant clinical challenge due to its diverse symptoms, from nonspecific symptoms more severe complications which complicates timely diagnosis. Prompt recognition and empirical treatment are crucial for improving patient outcomes. This case report aims to highlight the complexities involved in diagnosing and managing Weil's disease. Objective: Heightened clinical awareness and prompt intervention strategies in combating Weil’s disease. Research methodology: We identified four patients who were newly diagnosed with Weil’s disease in December 2024. We provided demographic data, clinical characteristics, laboratory test, chest x-ray, and outcomes. Results: We have presented four cases of severe leptospirosis (Weil’s disease). Their ages range from 25-65 years old, the majority are male. All patients presented with fever, sudden onset of jaundice, abdominal discomfort, dark urine, myalgia, anemia, leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia, neutrophilia, and hyperbilirubinemia. Three of them had acute kidney injury. They are given empirical antibiotics, three patients responded well and were able to be discharged, but one patient died due to septic shock. Conclusion: Early recognition and timely intervention are crucial for preventing severe complications and improving outcomes. Further research is needed to optimize management strategies.
