FORENSIC LINGUISTICS OF HOAX TEXT ABOUT COVID-19 ISSUES THAT HANDLED BY POLICE STATION OF BENGKAYANG, WEST KALIMANTAN

Abstract

Abstract: This paper is a study of the alleged hoax news regarding the announcement of an area in Yogyakarta that was all positive COVID-19. This news became noisy in Facebook of Bengkayang Informasi so make the Bengkayang Criminal Detective Unit Team processed the case. This study aims to describe the alleged lies of the news spread on Facebook's as  social media. This type of research is qualitative. This paper uses a documentary study using report data processed by Bengkayang Police investigators. The method used to analyze data is to use the forensic linguistic approach by describing the forensic semantics. This semantic analysis is contrasted with other texts that explain the facts of the case. The results of this study indicate that the news disseminated has the potential to violate the law because it is suspected to contain elements of lies.
