LEXICAL EQUIVALENCE OF COVID-19 IN INDONESIA IN THE OPINION OF TEMPO NEWSPAPERS

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the form of lexical equivalence of Opinions in the Tempo Newspaper with the theme covid-19 in Indonesia edition March 2020. The focus of this study was the lexical cohesion marker in the form of lexical equivalence. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive subject of research was an article of Opinions in the Tempo Newspaper. The data collection method was simak catat method, to the data analysis technique was the distribusional technique with the basic technique for Bagi Unsur Langsung (BUL). Equivalence under study includes lexical equivalents that undergo prefix, infix, suffix, and confix affixation processes. The results of this study indicate that the form of lexical equivalence in the article of Opinions in the Tempo Newspaper with the theme of covid-19 in Indonesia edition March 2020 had more lexical equivalence of confix affixation processes. The equivalence is able to support topics in building the integrity of a covid-19 themed discourse so that the message in the discourse can be conveyed properly.
