THE RUSSIAN IDIOMS CONNECTED TO THE HUMAN CHARACTERS

Abstract

Russian Idiom is a group of words which expresses one special meaning. Russian Idiom can also have the linguistic category, such as noun, verb, adjective and adverb. The difference between the Russian idiom and Russian word is that the idiom has more complex structure than the  word. The Idiom has a special semantic characteristics. The Idiom has one meaning which different from the meaning of its word that forms the  idiom. The Russian uses the idiom in their sentences to make the sentences more  clearly  and expressive. The Russian uses the idiom in written  sentence and spoken. The Russian avoids the direct statements to reveal their feelings, they use the idiom to express their feelings.

The objective of this research is to describe the type of the Russian idioms which connected to the human characters. The data are taken from written literary works and oral interviews. The research uses descriptive analysis method. The research uses the idiomatic theories from Basko (2008) and Kovshova (2015) The results of  the Russian idiom are that the Russian idioms which connected to human character can express several feelings and emotions indirectness, therefore no negative feelings to the hearer of the Russian idiom.
