DURASI DAN FREKUENSI KALIMAT BAHASA JAWA KODYA YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

Prosody or acoustic features in one speech community are not the same from one age group to the others, or from one generation to the next generation. This means there is change prosody or acoustic features from one generation to the next one. The current Javanese language prosody differs from the one existing in the previous generation or in the previous speech community. Therefore, it’s necessary to study with a representative sample of a particular generation or age group. If the research is not conducted at the present time, Javanese language prosody is likely to be lost along with the use of foreign language which affects the original prosody of Javanese speech community. This paper discusses the prosody (the duration and the frequency) of speech ngoko lugu in Javanese language diversity in Kodya of Yogyakarta on the mode of declarative sentences pattern Subject-Predicate (S-P) and the subject-predicate-object (S-P-O). To be able to explain and answer questions posed in this paper, do some steps or approaches. The approach is done by using instrumental phonetic approach, an assessment of the way the narrative by using an accurate measuring tool. Another approach is the use of theories IPO (Instituut voor Onderzoek Perseptie), and utilization of Praat software.
