THE EFFECT OF PRENATAL YOGA ON SLEEP QUALITY OF PREGNANT WOMEN IN THE THIRTY-THIRTY TRIMESTER AT PMB RESTU BUNDA
Abstract
Background: Sleep quality often declines during the third trimester of pregnancy due to significant physiological and psychological changes, such as frequent urination, back pain, anxiety, and emotional fluctuations. These disturbances can negatively impact maternal health and fetal development. This study aimed to determine the effect of prenatal yoga on sleep quality in third-trimester pregnant women. Method: This study employed an experimental research design, which involves administering an intervention to the subjects, controlling variables, and clearly establishing a cause-and-effect relationship using a pre-test and post-test design. The participants consisted of 40 pregnant women in their third trimester. Results: Based on the findings and discussion of the study titled The Effect of Prenatal Yoga on Sleep Quality in Third-Trimester Pregnant Women at PMB Restu Bunda, it was found that prior to the prenatal yoga intervention, the majority of participants (85%) had poor sleep quality. After participating in gentle prenatal yoga sessions, 92.5% of participants experienced good sleep quality. The Wilcoxon test using SPSS software yielded a Z-score of -5.868 with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of prenatal yoga on sleep quality among third-trimester pregnant women at PMB Restu Bunda. Conclusion: Prenatal yoga has a significant effect on improving sleep quality in third-trimester pregnant women at PMB Restu Bunda.
