Analisis Faktor Penyebab Ketidaktepatan Pemilihan Program Keahlian pada Siswa SMK Negeri 2 Karanganyar

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors causing inappropriate vocational program selection among students at SMK Negeri 2 Karanganyar. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed using a survey method. The participants consisted of 206 Grade XI students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire measuring five indicators of vocational program selection, namely self-potential, interest, parental influence, career information, and decision-making. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean scores, percentages, and category analysis. The results showed that students' vocational program selection was generally categorized as moderate. Among the five indicators, parental influence obtained the highest mean score (3.1566), indicating that parents played an important role in students' vocational program selection. Meanwhile, the indicators of self-potential (2.7160), interest (2.7168), career information (2.9442), and decision-making (2.8317) were categorized as moderate, suggesting that many students had not fully considered their personal characteristics and had limited understanding of vocational programs before making educational decisions. These findings indicate that vocational program selection is influenced by both internal and external factors, highlighting the importance of strengthening career guidance services and providing comprehensive career information before students choose vocational programs.
