MELIHAT EKSISTENSI DAN GELIAT BANGUNAN PENINGGALAN CAGAR BUDAYA : KONTESTASI PASAR BERINGHARJO DENGAN PERTOKOAN MODERN DI KAWASAN MALIOBORO
Abstract
One tangible form of the rapid development of the city of Yogyakarta is the proliferation of modern shops. Increased development can increase regional per capita income, but also has negative implications for the preservation of cultural heritage in the form of cultural heritage buildings, namely Beringharjo Market. This paper focuses on how to strike a balance between preserving urban heritage and increasing the rate of urban economic growth. Real estate under economic rule and capitalism has structural forces and forms of agency combined to form the most powerful factors influencing the shape of the metropolitan area. A qualitative approach with a case study method is used in this study to see how the contestation and socio-cultural adaptation in the Beringharjo Market area, Jalan Malioboro, Yogyakarta City, Yogyakarta Special Region. This study uses the theory production of space which was coined by Henri Lefebvre as an analytical tool. This research is interesting because it reveals the rapid development towards a modern urban form in the middle of an area that is still thick with traditional urban heritage. The results showed that the massive growth of modern shopping buildings in the Malioboro area could threaten the existence and socio-cultural values found in Beringharjo Market.

Abstrak
Salah satu bentuk nyata dari pesatnya pembangunan di Kota Yogyakarta adalah menjamurnya pertokoan modern. Peningkatan pembangunan dapat meningkatkan pendapatan per kapita daerah, namun juga mempunyai implikasi negatif terhadap kelestarian peninggalan perkotaan berupa bangunan cagar budaya yaitu Pasar Beringharjo. Tulisan ini berfokus pada bagaimana langkah agar tercapai keseimbangan antara kelestarian peninggalan perkotaan dengan peningkatan laju pertumbuhan ekonomi perkotaan. Real estate di bawah para penguasa ekonomi dan kapitalisme memiliki kekuatan struktural dan bentuk agensi yang digabungkan untuk menjadikan faktor paling kuat guna mempengaruhi bentuk wilayah metropolitan. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus digunakan dalam penelitian ini guna melihat bagaimana kontestasi sosio kultural serta adaptasi di kawasan Pasar Beringharjo, Jalan Malioboro, Kota Yogyakarta, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan teori produksi ruang yang dicetuskan oleh Henri Lefebvre sebagai pisau analisis. Penelitian ini menjadi menarik karena menguak pesatnya pembangunan menuju bentuk perkotaan modern di tengah-tengah wilayah yang masih kental akan peninggalan perkotaan tradisional. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan bangunan pertokoan modern di kawasan Malioboro yang masif dapat mengancam eksistensi dan nilai sosio kultural yang terdapat pada Pasar Beringharjo.
