Author Guidelines

The editor of Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics welcomes article submissions in accordance with the following guidelines: 

  1. Articles have not been published or accepted for publication, or are being considered for publication elsewhere. In addition to the manuscript, a written statement should be attached which clarifies that the article is original and does not contain any elements of plagiarism.
  2. Types of articles suitable for publication include the following; research reports (laboratory, field, archives), conceptual ideas, studies, theory applications. 
  3. Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics provides template to write the article based on its format.
  4. Another suitable type of article is book review.  Please note the following requirements for submitting book reviews:
    • books being reviewed should be newly published (within the last one year for books in Indonesian and two years for books in other foreign languages),
    • book reviews should be between 3-5 pages in length, and
    • a copy/ scan of the book cover should be attached. 
  5. Articles are written in Indonesian or English (preferable) using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition. Manuscripts are typed 1,5 spaced in a quarto paper size (A4), between 15-20 pages (3500-7000 words) in length including references, pictures, and tables.
  6. Article should be in form of essay which includes:
    • title in English and Indonesia (15-20 words),
    • author’s name (without academic degree) with institution’s name, address, and an e-mail address,
    • abstract in English and Bahasa (150-250 words for each) which includes research problems, methods and results,
    • key words in English and Indonesian (5-7 words),
    • Introduction/pendahuluan (without subsection, 2-3 pages) which includes background, objectives, methods, and literature reviews/theoretical construct (if needed) of the research. The introduction section  ends with an emphasis on items to be discussed, 
    • Theory and methods/metode penelitian (for research report only)
    • Finding and discussion/temuan dan pembahasan, for conceptual article the subtiles are based on the topic,
    • Conclusion/simpulan, and
    • (Acknowledgement)
    • ReferencesDaftar pustaka.
  7. Reference list format is based on APA (American Psychological Association) style. Reference list should appear at the end of the article and includes only literatures actually cited in the manuscripts. References are ordered alphabetically and chronologically. When writing a reference list, please use the following conventions;
    The editor appreciates if authors excerpt information from previously published articles in Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics.

  8. Articles should be submitted in soft files by using Microsoft Word application (97-2003 document) to Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics and cc to or submitted online. 
  9. Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors. 

Online Submitting Manuscript Guidelines

The manuscript text must be submitted by one of two systems (second procedure will be preferred):

  1. Submitting document should be done by Online Submission System in the Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics .
  2. First, the author should register as an author or reader (checking role as author or reader) in the “Register”.
  3. After registration completed, log in as an author, click in “New Submission”. The article submits stage consist five stages, such as:  (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Metadata, (4). Upload Supplementary Files, (5). Confirmation.
  4. In the “Start” column, chose Journal Section (Full Article), check all the checklists.
  5. In the “Upload Submission” Columns, upload the manuscript files at MSWord (97-2003) format in this column.
  6. In the “Enter Metadata” columns, fill out all the author data and affiliation. Following the Journal Title, Abstract and Indexing Keywords.
  7. In the “Upload Supplementary Files” columns, allowed to upload supplementary data file or the statement letter or other else.
  8. In the “Confirmation” columns, if all the data that you enter were right, then click “Finish Submission”.

Every article submitted to PJL (Prasasti: Journal of Linguistics) charges the following author fees:

Article Submission: 0,00 (IDR)

Peer-reviewing and editing: 0,00 (IDR)

Article Publication: 400000 (IDR)



Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word (97-2003) document file format.

    Articles should include: Title, Contributors, afiliation, email; (a) Abstract, (b) Introduction, (c) Theory and methods, (d) Finding and Discussion, (e) Conclusion, (f) References.

    The title written in English and not more than 20 words.

    Abstract should be prepared in English and Bahasa Indonesia, 250 words at most  and single space. It includes the aim of the study, the methods of the study, and principal conclusions. Words or short-phrases are selected for keywords to assisst indexers in cross-indexing the article.

  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The article should be original work and does not contain any elements of plagiarism. The text is 1,5 on A4 paper; uses a Times New Roman 12-point font; between 15-20 pages in length including references, pictures, and tables.

    Tables should be typed in 10-11 font size, given number and title of table is written above the table.

    Articles is written in either English or Bahasa Indonesia.

  5. Only sources which are quoted are written in the bibliography.

    References should be in alphabetical and chronological order according to the APA 6th edition.

  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
