This research aims to examine the influence of macroeconomic indicators (real gross domestic product, inflation, BI rate and exchange rate) on foreign direct investment in Indonesia between the period 1985 and 2013. The ordinary least square (OLS) is employed to estimate the impact of macroeconomics indicators on FDI. Further the classic assumptions of multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity , and autocorrelation are tested.
The research relies on secondary data of time series obtained from the Investment Coordinating Board (Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal), the agency Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik) and Bank Indonesia. The findings reveal that the effect gross domestic product and interest rates are positively and significantly effect on FDI in Indonesia. Moreover, inflation has significant and negative effect on FDI in Indonesia. Finally currency rate has negative effect but it is not statisticly significant.
