BUDAYA KEMISKINAN DI KOTA SURAKARTA (Studi Etnografi di Pinggir Rel Palang Joglo, Kadipiro)

Abstract


The research to find out the portrait of the culture of poverty in the city of Surakarta, especially at the edge of the joglo rail cross Kadipiro, as well as the reason why still persist in their illegal and living in a culture of poverty. The theory used in this study i.e. habitus of Pierre Bourdieu and self of George Herbert Mead. Qualitative research uses ethnographic approach. Sampling with purposive sampling. For the validity of the data, the researcher uses triangulation of data and methods. Data analysis techniques with an interactive model of data analysis.

The results showed that many citizens who set up home on the edge of the tracks, although the land they know places illegal. Residents have long lived and got used to the sound of a passing train, as well as hanging with the existence of small stalls around the residence to get daily necessities. Residents on the edge of the joglo rail cross has had little awareness that Indonesia railway services company requires their land, then they are willing condemned to another place. They will move to another location if Indonesia railway services company has ordered to move and are available for their new location. There is a mindset of the citizens of the edge of joglo rail cross which consider that home ownership as something that ought to be proud of, because it is better to have your own home even though the land is illegal rather than not have a house or contracted people’s house. The cause of the citizens of the edge of joglo rail cross remains poor due to uneven aid distribution. The are of Kelurahan Kadipiro is very broad makes not all poor families got the aids, as well as land that is occupied is illegal, then the main aid distribution in terms of structuring slum becomes difficult.
