MODEL PENGEMBANGAN EKOWISATA BERWAWASAN BUDAYA DAN KEARIFAN LOKAL UNTUK MEMBERDAYAKAN MASYARAKAT DAN MENDUKUNG PELESTARIAN FUNGSI LINGKUNGAN HIDUP

Abstract

The research was generally aimed at formulizing a model for developing ecotourism based on local wisdom and culture to empower the community and support the sustainability of the environment. The research was undertaken in the Karanganyar Regency. Data were collected using some techniques including site observation, interview, focus group discussion, and document study. Data analysis techniques consist of interactive analysis (Miles & Huberman, 1984) and thematic analysis (Hayes, 1997). Research results include draft of a model called CBED (Community Based Ecotourism Development) which can be used by tourism stakeholders, including the government of Karanganyar, the private sectors, as well as the community, as a reference for making policies and operating ecotourism activities sustainably to empower the community living in tourist destination in order to increase the local economy and manage the sustainability of the environment which becomes the main assets of regional tourism development.
