Abstract

ABSTRACT:Nutritional problems that exist in Indonesia today are due to errors in fulfilling food consumption where many people do not pay attention to the body's needs for energy and a balanced proportion of food. Overseas students who are at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta are prone to lack of fulfillment of proper and balanced nutrition. This research aims toknow the amount of food expenditure, food consumption, external factors that affect food consumption, internal factors that affect food consumption, and the influence of external and internal factors on food consumption among overseas students at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. The basic methods used in this research are descriptive and analytical methods. The location in this research is at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta because it hasrespondents with the criteria of students who are currently studying at Sebelas Maret University and come from outside Central Java. Sampling using methods nonprobability convenience sampling type. The sample was 140 respondents. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire via google form. Instrument testing and data analysis usingsoftware Microsoft Excel and SPSS 22.0. The results showed that the average food expenditure was IDR 965,000 / person / month with a proportion of 47% of the total expenditure. The respondents' average food consumptionamounting to 1774.7 kcal / person / day, TKE 74.6% and included in the less category. Based on this research gender, food expenditure simultaneously have a significant effect on food consumption. Gender and breakfast habits partially have a significant effect on food consumption overseas students at Sebelas Maret University Surakarta.
