Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to know the factors that affect the demand of cayyene pepper by household consumers in Surakarta and know the elasticity of cayyene pepper demand by household consumers in Surakarta. This research basic used descriptive analysis method as basic. The location of this research was determined by using area sampling method based on the existing sub-district in Surakarta. The results of t test showed that the variables which individually influenced in cayyene pepper demand were cayyene pepper prince, garlic price, household income, and the number of family member. The value of coefficient of price elasticity was -0.150, because the value was less than 1 mean that red chili was an inelastic goods. The coefficient of cross elasticity garlic was -0.050 which mean that onion and garlic was complementary product from cayyene pepper because the coefficient of regression was negative. The household income elasticity coefficient was -0.139 which mean that cayene pepper was an inferior product because the regression coefficient was negative
