Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the factors that affect the demand for beef in Surakarta. The basic method of research is descriptive analysis. Locations were selected purposively (intentionally) in Surakarta. The data collected is secondary data from 2000 to 2014. Methods of data analysis using OLS (Ordinary Least Square) using SPSS. The analysis showed that the factors that affect the demand for beef in Surakarta is the price of beef, chicken meat prices, the price of anchovies anchovies, per capita income and population. The price of beef, chicken meat prices, per capita income significantly at the 99% confidence level. The price of fish salted anchovies real effect on the 95% confidence level. The population of real effect on the level of trust of 90%. The price elasticity of -0.914 indicates beef beef is inelastic. Cross elasticity of 0.235 chicken meat prices showed chicken meat are substitutes for beef. Cross-price elasticity of salted anchovy fish for anchovies anchovy 0,488 shows are substitutes for beef. Income elasticity of 0.832 indicates the beef is a normal good.
