Representasi Peran Gender dalam Konten Anak-Anak di Youtube: Dampaknya Terhadap Persepsi Anak Usia Dini Tentang Diri dan Orang
Abstract
The development of digital technology has made YouTube a popular platform for children's entertainment and learning. However, its content often portrays gender roles in a stereotypical manner. This study aims to examine how gender roles are represented in children's YouTube content and analyze their impact on young children's perceptions. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, employing content analysis of 10 popular children's videos on YouTube and semi-structured interviews with 23 children aged 4–6 years. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, thematic data presentation, and conclusion drawing with verification. The findings indicate that most content continues to reproduce traditional gender stereotypes, with male characters portrayed as active and brave, while female characters are depicted as passive and appearance-focused. These representations influence how children perceive gender roles and shape their self-concept. Therefore, it is essential to guide children in choosing content that is free from gender bias.
Perkembangan teknologi digital menjadikan YouTube sebagai media hiburan dan pembelajaran yang populer bagi anak. Namun, konten-konten tersebut kerap merepresentasikan peran gender secara stereotipikal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji representasi gender dalam konten anak-anak di YouTube dan dampaknya terhadap persepsi anak usia dini. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis isi terhadap 10 video populer kanal anak-anak di YouTube, serta wawancara semi-terstruktur kepada 23 anak usia 4–6 tahun. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman, meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data tematik, dan verifikasi kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar konten masih mereproduksi stereotip gender, seperti laki-laki digambarkan aktif dan pemberani, sementara perempuan digambarkan pasif dan berfokus pada penampilan. Representasi ini memengaruhi persepsi anak terhadap peran gender dan pembentukan konsep diri. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pendampingan dalam memilih tontonan yang bebas dari bias gender.
