PENINGKATAN PRESTASI BELAJAR IPA MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN KONTEKSTUAL PADA ANAK TUNARUNGU KELAS D2 WANTUWIRAWAN SALATIGA
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to improve deaf-students’ achievement in science of second
semester of class D2 SLB-B Wantuwirawan Salatiga students by applying contextual teaching.
Classroom action research methodology was used in doing this research. The research was
done in two cycles, for each cycle consisted of designing, implementation, action, observation and
reflection. The subjects of this research were five deaf-students of class D2 SLB-B wantuwirawan
salatiga. Documentation, test and observation were the methods of data collection. Content validity
was used to validity the data. In analyzing the data, this research used descriptive comparative. The
research procedure was spiral model which related to each others.
The result of this research showed that the implementation of contextual learning could
improve students’ science achievement from pre-cycle to cycle I and from cycle I to cycle II. In precycle,
the process of learning was monotonic (speech-based learning) which brought about low
science achievement. The improvement took place in cycle I, students’ achievement increased even
not yet optimal. In cycle II, the students’ evaluation and their learning independency were improved
highly with the result of supporting a qualified learning.seen from the completeness percentage of the
minimal criteria in competence 6,0, there were 60 % in pre-cycle, 80 % in cycle I and 100 % in cycle
II.
In conclusion, the implementation of contextual learning could improve science achievement
of deaf-children of class D2 SLB-B wantuwirawan Salatiga.
